As Dr. Barry Sears often says, 'It takes fat to burn fat'. In his book, 'Toxic Fat' he describes how inflammation in fat cells actually causes them to trap fat and not release it for conversion into energy. This makes you gain more fat, and feel hungry and tired all the time.

Increasing your intake of Omega-3 fatty acids is an effective way to reduce this cellular inflammation and burn more fat for greater weight loss. A recent study demonstrated that people on a calorie restricted diet who supplemented with 1.5 grams of EPA and DHA lost more weight than the control group (1).

Omega 3 fatty acids reduce cellular inflammation and increase levels of adiponectin, which are two factors that will lessen the 'fat trap' effect.

This is great information, but it's not as simple as just taking a good fish oil product. Omega-3 fatty acids are prone to oxidation in the body in particular to the LDL particles. To retain the benefit of Omega 3's it is necessary to ensure you get enough antioxidants in your diet. Supplementing with polyphenols is a great way to ensure adequate antioxidant levels in addition to eating plenty vegetables and fruits.

Following this protocol will help you burn more fat faster and without unnecessary oxidation in the body.
